Production Engineering Laboratories¶
Mission: A rigorous, five-tier progression of production-grade systems in Go. Each lab is designed to take fundamental computer science primitives—concurrency, network protocols, memory management, and distributed coordination—and implement them as resilient software artifacts.
Laboratory Progression Matrix¶
| Level | Project | Primary Architectural Primitives | Complexity | Reference Implementation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | CLI Task Tracker | CLI parsing, JSON serialization, atomic filesystem writes, zero external dependencies | Fundamental | Clean command-line tool |
| 02 | Concurrent Log Analyzer | Goroutine worker pools, unbuffered channels, sync.WaitGroup, regex pipeline | Intermediate | High-throughput log processor |
| 03 | High-Throughput URL Shortener | Gin HTTP router, Redis connection pool, MurmurHash3 / Base62, Docker Compose | Advanced | Production microservice |
| 04 | Real-time Notification Hub | Gorilla WebSockets, Redis Pub/Sub, concurrent hub broadcast, connection heartbeats | Systems | Distributed event hub |
| 05 | Unified Capstone Platform | Microservices architecture, gRPC / Protocol Buffers, OpenTelemetry tracing, Docker Compose | Enterprise | Multi-service orchestration |
Methodological Standards¶
Every production lab adheres to strict engineering criteria:
- Idiomatic Concurrency: Clear goroutine lifecycle management with
context.Contextcancellation propagation. No goroutine leaks. - Deterministic Error Handling: Explicit errors returned, typed sentinel errors, and structured context wrapping. Zero panics in production code paths.
- Observability & Health: Structured JSON logging, Prometheus metrics endpoints, and health probes (
/livez,/readyz). - Isolated Reproducibility: Multi-stage Docker builds and one-command
docker compose uptest environments.
